Woman (Queen) 1983
Archetype, authority, and the outward gaze
A counterpoint to the mirror works. Where the mirrored figures turn inward, and although her eyes are cropped Queen faces outward with a steady, commanding presence. She is not reflected — she is the reflector. Her posture and position introduce a symbolic dimension to the mirror collection, grounding the psychological works with an archetypal figure.
