These works consider how place and time shape perception. Through layered brushwork, saturated color, and a personal compositional logic built on direct observation, each scene becomes a concentrated meditation—an invitation for the viewer to enter a quiet, self‑contained world. Beginning with the early paintings of 1979, I follow an ongoing investigation into simplified spaces, exploring the tension between what is seen and what is remembered.

Although many compositions appear quickly observed, the surface treatment shifts from piece to piece, reflecting an individual response to each location. Familiar observed views become increasingly subjective, shaped by color, light, and tactile sensibility rather than strict description.

In the most recent works, I explore the in‑between zones where interior and exterior meet—thresholds that carry both visual and emotional weight. These places were there- they existed to be observed. These paintings suggest that landscapes and interiors share a psychological space, merging in ways that complicate the boundary between them. Even the early works, such as Porter School and Outside the Window, reveal this long‑standing interest in the subtle transition between inside and outside.
